Mezcal Artesanal

Oaxaca's artisanal mezcal is a unique spirit that embodies the region's rich tradition and culture . Crafted from diverse agave varieties, the mezcal production process is meticulous and deeply rooted in traditional practices.

Mezcal producers, known as " master mezcaleros," follow traditional methods passed down from generation to generation, ensuring that each bottle is an authentic expression of the land and time.

The agave is harvested by hand and slowly cooked in stone ovens dug into the ground, giving mezcal its characteristic smoky flavor .

After cooking, the agave is crushed and fermented in wooden vats before being distilled in copper stills . This artisanal process, which can last several weeks, results in a complex and robust spirit, with a flavor profile that ranges from herbal and fruity notes to hints of earth and smoke.

Traditional mezcal from Oaxaca is not just a drink, but also a cultural expression.

It is usually enjoyed in ceremonies and celebrations, and its consumption is deeply intertwined with the customs and identity of the Oaxacan communities.

Each sip of mezcal tells a story , reflecting the diverse landscape of Oaxaca, from its mountains and valleys to its unique climates and soils.

WHAT IS A SPIRIT ?

Spirits are alcoholic beverages distilled from fermented products and whose raw materials are of agricultural origin , such as agave.

Some of the most famous examples of spirits are whiskey, brandy, gin, rum, vodka, or mezcal , among many others.

All the requirements for a beverage to be considered a spirit are
strictly regulated . Like our mezcal, which complies with all current regulations .

They are called spiritous because during the evaporation process, the vapor simulates the appearance of spirits .

As the popular saying goes,
"Mezcal is good for every ill, and good for every ill ." This alludes to the spiritual relief that this drink provides to many.

Mezcal is culture

¡Del bueno, del chingón! maguey-2.jpg

For several years, I was offered mezcal at various festivities and celebrations in the central valleys of Oaxaca , such as processions, religious festivals, baptisms, wakes, or weddings of friends and family. They always told me it was "good mezcal"—that was the promise .

Later, when people offered me "
good mezcal ," I would reply, " the real deal ." The phrase stuck with me for years, until I combined the two expressions and it became: "The good stuff, the real deal!"®

This is how an expression that has always been present,
and will continue to be , in common and popular speech became a brand of mezcal .

We're not trying to dazzle anyone with a fancy bottle or label;
we want people to seek out our mezcal because it's good, because it's awesome.

That's the promise.
